Six years into her career as a pro with the Washington Mystics, Chamique Holdsclaw left the team under a cloud. She was, it turned out later, suffering from clinical depression and the shame of her illness, hidden by a mask that she had worn for years.
Holdsclaw’s personal struggles identify, cope, and recover from her mental health challenges provide a gripping and revealing tale. Ultimately, it is an intensely intimate portrait of one exceptional woman battling the kind of demons experienced by millions.
