ULTRASONIC tells the tale of Simon York – music teacher, married, soon-to-be father. Simon dreams of one day getting paid to write music but for now money is tight. Jonas, Simon’s troubled brother-in-law spends his days handing out flyers and trying to, “open peoples’ eyes,” to his theories of conspiracies and injustices in the world. One night Simon hears what he thinks is a very real sound in an alleyway. The sound does not disappear and while his wife, Ruth, dismisses it, Jonas believes that Simon is impacted by a government experiment which utilizes an ultrasonic auditory signal to control the minds of all who hear it. The two of them embark on a journey to get to the bottom of the sound experiment and stop the noise.
Rohit Colin Rao – Writer / Director / Producer / Cinematographer / Editor. Rohit grew up in Silver Spring, MD. He is a filmmaker, musician and software engineer. In 2001, Rohit wrote and directed his first 16mm film, Blocks/ In 2004, Rohit wrote and directed Someone and Someone, Inc., a 7 minute satirical short about corporate America, which debuted at the Maryland Film Festival in 2004. Since then, he has focused on his music projects, and self-released a full length album with The Translucents, and an EP with Tigertronic. Ultrasonic marks Rohit’s feature-length filmmaking debut.
Mike Maguire, Writer, is a writer whose past works include long and short fiction, film review, poetry and Drawn Inward, a book of word play. He met Ultrasonic director and co-writer Rohit Rao in the summer of 2002 when they both worked with the same artist community website. Since Ultrasonic he has written a short screenplay and is now writing a novel. In addition to writing he teaches kids chess in area elementary schools. He was born and raised in Northern Virginia and now lives with his dog in Washington, DC.
Born and raised in Senegal, Nabou Eden G, producer, lived a decade in Germany where she worked and studied, before moving to the United States to pursue her filmmaking dream. Her passion awoke at age 9 from admiring her country’s only female filmmaker at the time: Safi Faye. Nabou received her MFA in Motion Picture Production from Chapman University Film School. Nabou has a short under her belt titled The Rapist in the House. She also interned for The Bold & The Beautiful, and worked on Producer Damon Lee’s short One Flight Stand, starring Aisha Tyler and Marc Blucas.
Barg Upender, Producer, is a self-proclaimed “DVD-extras” junkie. He enjoys the art of filmmaking just as much as the film itself. He applies Robert Rodriguez’s indie film making techniques to “move at the speed of thought” in bringing new products and companies to life. He is a serial entrepreneur and investor. He was named one of the top 100 Tech Titans by Washingtonian Magazine. Barg is an alumnus of the MindShare CEO Network and enjoys mentoring up-and-coming entrepreneurs. He is classically trained as an Engineer from Cornell University. He lives with his wife and two sons (budding artists and entrepreneurs) in the Washington DC metro area.
Silas Gordon Brigham – Lead Actor (Simon) Silas Gordon Brigham earned a degree in Theater Studies from Guilford College. Hemade his professional acting debut in the Immediate Theater Project’s production, The Glass Menagerie in Ashville, NC in 2004. In addition to Ultrasonic, Silas plays the lead role in another local feature film, Revenge on a Ghost. He inherited his reverence for movies from his grandmother and mom, Linda Gordon (“Ruth’s Mom” in Ultrasonic). Silas loves going to the movies like a dog loves going outside. And he loves dogs. And he loves going outside.
Samuel W. Repshas – Lead Actor (Jonas) Samuel Repshas started his film career in late 2010. Since that time, he has appeared in a wide variety roles in over 8 films in both New Orleans, and the DC metropolitan area. His other film credits include Finley, Mysterious Prison, Revenge on a Ghost, Lenore, The Making of Envoy, O.C David, Seven in Seven, Together Forever, and Living Out Loudoun. In the spring of 2012, he will be remounting the critically acclaimed play The Meeting by Greg Powell.
