On the Hill Summit 2017

Tax Incentives for Filmmakers

What Tax Incentives for Filmmakers still exist in the US?
Can and should public monies still independent support filmmaking today?

Join us for a discussion in Congress to debate the value of the tax incentives that began in and were removed from the IRS the tax code for 2017.

Designed to prevent film production from leaving the United States, the federal tax incentive was enacted as part of the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004, Section 181 of the Internal Revenue Code. The program, which gave significant tax breaks to investors in shows shot in the U.S., came to an abrupt end on December 31, 2016.

Come to be briefed on the impact of this change on independent filmmakers, to discuss ways of moving forward and to review the overall value-added of the program. How now can and should the federal government support the creative industries of media arts?
