EYE OF THE hurricane

USA and Ireland / 2015 / 95mins
Directed by Steven Flynn
World Premiere / Post-screening Q&A with Director

Followed by a performance by renowned singer/songwriter David Wilcox

In 1993 American Folk Singer-Songwriter David Wilcox had a chart topping hit with his song Eye of the Hurricane. It wasn’t pushed by the record companies, but it made it’s way to the hearts of people all across America. There was something about his lyrics and storytelling that resonated with a huge audience.

20 years later he’s still dedicated to crafting his songs and stories in ways that have often been described as ‘moving listeners through the most turbulent times of their lives’. When filmmaker Steven Flynn first started listening to David’s music, this statement was certainly true for him. Later in his career when he made a documentary film about David he had no idea that he would become a character in his own film. ‘Eye Of The Hurricane’ is a very subtle story about the healing power of music, the human spirit with a good dose of humor and tragedy.
