When Zo transitions from female to male, his family must also change.This film takes a unique look at the current paradigm shift of transgender individuals being accepted more largely in society from the perspective of one family.
Change in the Family explores the transgender experience though the perspective of one family. The only subjects of the film are the Thorpe family members. Zo is a 24 year old trans male who recently graduated from college and is temporarily living back home while looking to establish his work career. Zo’s family is both every family, and it is also a unique family: they are inter-generational, interracial, and transatlantic, with many family members based in the UK. They value each other, openness and education. As individual family members they are refreshingly authentic about their thoughts and feelings about Zo and the resulting transformation and changes to their family.
