Come and hear from JB Blanc, renowned actor of stage, screen, and voice acting, trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London. He will take questions and share stories of his work in film, TV and video games.
His film and TV credits include Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Pirates Of The Caribbean: AWE, Moonlight Serenade, Garfield, Prison Break and NYPD Blue. JB has voiced over 400 characters in animation and video games including The Jetsons, Kung-Fu Panda, Scooby-Doo, Star Wars Jedi, Wayfinders, Fortnite, Arcane, Harry Potter Legacy, League Of Legends, and several Call Of Duty games. He is also a leading director in games and animation such as Call Of Duty, World Of Warcraft, Overwatch, Heroes Of The Storm, Hearthstone, Lego Dimensions, Lego Batman: Beyond Gotham, and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Meet Our 2025 Judges
Spencer Bruttig is an Emmy Award-winning documentary film producer and cinematographer based in Washington, D.C. He has produced films on the lost Maya of Belize, a soccer academy for at risk girls in Africa and on the re-introduction of frogs in Yosemite. In 2012, he went through a documentary film production summer intensive, which he credits for inspiring his career passion and knowledge and is very happy to be a part of this program helping to inspire the next generation of filmmakers.
Tamieka Chavis (AEA, SAG-e) is a classically trained actress with over 10 years of experience in theatre and film/tv productions which has earned her multiple nominations and awards, including the Daytime Emmy Awards (ANACOSTIA for Digital Drama Series)
Junhyeok [Eric] Kim, is a second year student from South Korea studying film at New York University (NYU). His film Well-dying, his first ever filmmaking experience, won top Award at DCIFF’s High School Film Competition in 2023.

Zoe Epperson’s filmmaking journey began in seventh grade when she was cast in a local news channel’s Public Service Announcement. Since then she has volunteered on over twenty film sets from music videos to narrative shorts, to commercials, and has worked in various roles, from assistant director to actor, to set designer. In her films, she aims to tell immersive stories with complex characters, often set in times she herself has not lived in. Her directorial debut at 17, A Tribute to the Starry-Eyed Girl has earned her national acclaim, with nine awards, including four “best in fest”. Her upcoming project “History Looks the Same On Us” is scheduled to be released in February 2025.
Vince Viplak, based in Szolnok, Hungary, is an award-winning young filmmaker whose work has earned accolades at festivals like the Alexandre Trauner Art Film Festival and Eötvös Loránd Science University competition. He has directed projects ranging from promotional videos for Szolnok TV to a travel documentary for the Szolnok Symphony Orchestra. With extensive experience in live event production, Vince has coordinated broadcasts, sound, and lighting for concerts and festivals, including the Tiszavirág Festival. His background includes eight years of acting, participation in theater, and volunteer work with Radio Mary, where he led youth programming and live broadcasts. Vince’s dynamic portfolio reflects his passion for storytelling and technical excellence in filmmaking and event production.

In Arlington County, Virginia there resides a hidden gem called a Magnolia Bog, an ecosystem that is one of only 23 worldwide. The bog has a journey of discovery, abandonment, and restoration all made possible by the community surrounding it.
Coral De la Cruz-Novey is a high school senior and Peruvian-American storyteller who has been making films for over ten years. Aside from creating her own films, she is also a founder of a youth journalism coalition, The Arlington AMP that produces videos and podcast stories about her local area. Coral’s work has been recognized in over 50 countries on a Voice of America segment, as well as being an Official Selection in multiple international film festivals. Coral loves creating short sci-fi films, documentaries, and dark comedies. She is planning to go to film school in 2025. She talks about her film and ambitions in an interview with Voice of America. Ally Cao is an artist and sophomore in high school from Shanghai, China who studies in Princeton, New Jersey. While painting in Art Studio 23, Ally taught herself digital art and animation. She is currently the artist for her school’s newspaper and her animation “Chronic Conditions” screened at The Princeton Garden Theater in 2024. She is also the Vice President of the children’s division of NJYAA, an organization of young artists in New Jersey.

Although they were not his best work in the beginning, he decided to take on smaller roles in other student films. Castillo focused on music videos for small artists for a short period of time until he then decided to take on a bigger role by directing, producing, and writing his new acclaimed short film, “Dazed”. Hope Works is an 19-minute documentary that takes viewers on an inspiring journey through the eyes of a group of emerging young filmmakers in Washington, D.C. These filmmakers, trained by students from American University, are tasked with documenting the transformative impact of the Run Hope Work (RHW) program on their peers. Over the course of four months, the filmmakers not only learn the art of storytelling and filmmaking but also capture the personal growth, struggles, and triumphs of young people participating in RHW’s multifaceted programs.
Under the banner of the Anacostia Youth Media Festival, Hope Works was made possible through a partnership between Run Hope Work, students in the Film and Media Arts Division in the School of Communication at American University, Covenant House, and the Humanities Truck of American University. The production team was a mix of student filmmakers and youth participants, creating a dynamic learning environment where skills were shared and developed. Professor Brigid Maher, founder of the Anacostia Youth Media initiative, led the project, guiding a team of graduate students, undergraduates, and alumni who mentored the young filmmakers throughout the process. Their efforts were supported by a grant from the American University Humanities Truck, which further emphasized the importance of community collaboration in bringing stories of hope and transformation to life.

She specializes in writing and directing, and she also recently has also been branching out into editing. ‘The Reiterative Reality of Rosemary Robinson’ was her first high school project as an homage to Wes Anderson. She aims for her movies to have a comforting yet impactful, emotionally resonant tone. Her favorite films feature deep characterization and psychoanalytic themes. Mikhail Kogan, MD is a geriatrician with The GW Medical Faculty Associates and an associate professor of Medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. Dr. Kogan is Medical Director of GW Center for Integrative Medicine and in addition to multiple research and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Kogan serves as an associate director of the Geriatrics Fellowship Program. Dr. Kogan also serves as associate director of the newly formed GW Interdisciplinary Integrative Medicine Fellowship.
Barbara Koeppel is a Washington DC-based investigative reporter who writes about socioeconomic, political, labor, foreign policy, criminal justice and military issues. She was the executive director of the Committee to Protect Journalists.
Theodora Scarato MSW is Executive Director of Environmental Health Trust (EHT), a scientific think tank that publishes research and educates policymakers on environmental health issues. EHT scientists are among the leading independent voices calling for reducing wireless worldwide. EHT sued the FCC for ignoring science related to wireless radiation, and in 2021 the U.S. Court of Appeals, DC Circuit ruled in its favor.
Joseph Sandri is the President of the National Spectrum Association. Joe is CEO of Thought Delivery Systems, Inc., which is active in 5G infrastructure operations, applications, and research & development through its Cardinal Communications division. Mr. Sandri has been an executive officer with multiple publicly traded corporations.
Jonathan Mirin is the co-founding Artistic Director of Piti Theatre Company, an award-winning touring troupe based in Western Massachusetts and Switzerland. His critically acclaimed plays have been produced across North America and Europe. He also co-founded Hilltown Health, a grassroots organization dedicated to leveraging safe technology for healthy, sustainable communities. “Canary in a Gold Mine” is his first documentary.
