High School Summer 2024 Filmmaking

Everyone gets to be part of making a short film!

5 week Summer 2024 Film Production Course for ages 14-18

  • Meeting schedule:
    • Dates: July 8th – August 9th in-person with a final public screening on August 9th
    • Hours: 1.00-6.00 pm Monday-Friday
    • Venue: Foundry Church, 1500 16th Street NW, Washington DC 20036 (Dupont Circle Metro, 3 blocks)
    • Field Trips on Fridays

  • A practical hands-on course in digital film production.
  • Content: Cinematography, sound, script, performance, directing, lighting and editing. Each team produces a short fiction film. Our teaching team has a wealth of experience in filmmaking and we know students love them and the program!
  • Size: Up to 18 students divided into production teams. Completed projects are in consideration for the 12th annual DCIFF High School Film Competition in 2025.
  • Equipment: Provided, but if you have a laptop, bring it.
  • Requirements: You must attend 75% of the course to receive a Certificate of Completion and to be listed as Cast/Crew on a project.
  • Cost: FREE of charge for all the participants except for a one time $45 (DC residents) / $65 (non DC residents) registration fee to cover incidentals and snacks due by July 3rd.
  • Deadline for applications: July 1st. We will review applications, and offer places, as they came in.
  • Supported by a Summer Strong 2022 Grant from the Office of Out of School Time
