The Soul of A Cyclist
Directed by Nuno Tavares
Portugal / 2020 / 70 mins
Followed by a virtual Q&A with the director and in-person conversation with Classic Bicycle Enthusiasts
Bicycles transport us in our discovery and in our reflection. Through a group of “classic” cyclists, we discover the values of friendship, ecology, valuing the old and minimalism to achieve a happier, simpler and more fulfilled life with what really matters.
Director Nuno Tavares, born in the Azores, Portugal, in 1975, graduated in Electronic and Computer Engineering in 1999. His professional life started as an Electrotechnical Engineer in Portuguese Telecommunication Companies from 1999 to 2003. Still at a young age he became an entrepreneur, founding in 2003 (at the age of 27) a tour operator in Portugal. In January 2019, he decided to change his professional life and founded a new company, which will pursue several sectors of activity, primarily, cinema, arts, and sustainability. Meanwhile, he created, produced and directed the documentary “The Soul of a Cyclist”, between September 2018 and February 2020. Free minded, ecologist, pragmatic, creative, outsider (the word that he believes defines him the best) has now started to develop his own new path through the way of creativity and art, with the tranquility, trust, and wisdom which are given by his 40’s.
