
Summer 2024 5 & 3 Week Animation Courses for ages 12-17 led by trained animator
- Meeting Schedule & Venue:
- Dates: June 24th -July 26th in-person
- Celebration and Presentation of Final Work, July 26th 4-6pm
- Hours: 1.00-6.00 pm Monday-Friday
- Venue: Foundry Church, 1500 16th Street NW, Washington DC 20036 (Dupont Circle Metro, 3 blocks)
- Field Trips on Fridays
- For the 3 Week Course same venue and hours, Monday July 8th – 26th

- Content: Try your hand at two forms of animation: stop motion, including claymation, and 2D animation, both hand drawn and digital. Everyone works both individually and in teams on equipment provided by DCIFF. You will also learn how to use easily available online animation tools, set up space to film and work to produce a final film that everyone has contributed to. Our teaching team has a wealth of experience in filmmaking and we know students love them and the program!
- Here’s what each week entails:
- Weeks 1-2: Learn essential tools and techniques – flip books and intro to character animation
- Weeks 3: Stop Motion and Claymation
- Week 4-5: Producing a final short stop motion film
- Cost: FREE of charge for all the participants except for a required one time $45 (DC residents) / $65 (non DC residents) registration fee to cover incidentals and snacks due by June 20th.
- Size: Up to 15 students.
- Equipment: Provided, but if you have a laptop or tablet / pencils and paper for drawing, do bring!
- Requirements: You must attend 75% of the course to receive a Certificate of Completion and to be listed as Crew on a project. So taking a one week vacation is fine.
