2023 DCIFF Film Forum In Action: Opening Night Recap
Lights, stones, and sculptures: Wednesday, March 1, marked the opening night of the 24th annual DC Independent Film Forum, running through March 5 and featuring over 70 films from across the globe at numerous venues from the Moxy Washington, DC Downtown and Landmark’s E Street Cinema.
Opening night festivities kicked off with a pre-screening reception at the exquisite artisan shop in town Peruvian Connection, sponsored by 811 Films. Filmmakers and guests imbibed in happy hour drinks and mingled with each other before the world premiere of the documentary DIVINE INSTINCT, directed by James Gossard. Attendees also had the amazing opportunity to see meet the director and the film’s main subject Gary Spinosa and see his astonishing, metaphysical stoned artwork on display at the reception and theater.
Following the screening of the documentary, we were honored to dive into an invigorating discussion on art, spirituality and nature with James Gossard, Gary Spinosa and art historian and sculptor, John Edwards.
All the films have been gaining much attention and the audiences have been having a blast at the events. If you’re near the Washington D.C. area, come join us for the weekend and indulge yourself in entertainment, including film screenings, through-provoking discussions, and Q&A sessions with the filmmakers and film industry professionals!
