A Heartfelt Thanks to the Partners Supporting Independent Film in Washington, DC.
At the Washington DC Independent Film Festival (DCIFF), we are privileged to foster creativity and innovation in film, providing an invaluable platform for storytellers from around the world. Each year, we witness the powerful impact that independent film can have—not only on audiences but also on the filmmakers who pour their passion into these projects. None of this would be possible without the steadfast support of our community partners.
For over 25 years, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Events DC, and the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment (OCTFME) and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) have supported DCIFF, championing our mission from the very beginning. Their dedication has not only sustained DCIFF’s growth but has made our festival a go-to event for independent film in Washington, DC. We are delighted to have support from the District government to remain an independent voice in filmmaking in our region.
Thanks to their support, this year we are excited to announce a new capability to live stream from our YouTube account, thanks to upgraded equipment that allows audiences to engage with DCIFF from wherever they are. Additionally, a new mobile animation studio, funded by our partners, enabled our youth programs to create projects using cutting-edge tools, a major milestone for our summer workshops.
We want to extend a special thank you to each of these supporters. Their contributions have expanded our reach, allowing us to bring groundbreaking stories, new perspectives, and creative opportunities to Washington, DC, and to make DCIFF an essential part of our city’s cultural fabric.
DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities
The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities has been an essential ally in our journey, strengthening the DC arts landscape and inspiring local artists to grow and share their work. Their support enables us to showcase a diverse array of films that are accessible to the community and to foster conversations that go beyond the screen. From funding grants to educational programs, the Commission’s commitment to cultural enrichment and the celebration of independent voices is something we cherish and celebrate.
Events DC
With the support of Events DC, DCIFF is able to bring a world-class cinematic experience right to the nation’s capital. From facilitating seamless events to ensuring each screening is exceptional, Events DC has been instrumental in enhancing DCIFF’s community presence. Their efforts allow us to host filmmakers and audiences in ways that enrich the cultural tapestry of our nation’s capital. Together, we make each festival not only an occasion for film enthusiasts but a welcoming, inspiring space for creators of all kinds.
Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment (OCTFME)
The Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment plays a crucial role in expanding DC’s role as a creative hub, and their partnership with DCIFF allows us to further promote the local film industry. OCTFME’s dedication to supporting film and media arts aligns beautifully with DCIFF’s mission, helping us offer filmmakers both the resources and exposure they need to succeed. With OCTFME’s encouragement, we continue to elevate DC’s status as a thriving center for independent film and a nurturing ground for emerging talent.

Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE)
We are especially grateful to the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) for their support in bringing DCIFF’s educational programs to life. OSSE’s commitment to empowering young learners through access to creative opportunities has been instrumental in expanding our youth programming. Their contributions have helped us provide workshops and hands-on experiences, like the use of our mobile animation studio this summer, which inspires students to think critically, tell their stories, and explore the power of film as a medium for expression.
Our Shared Vision for the Future of Film
To each of these organizations, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your continued support makes it possible for DCIFF to elevate independent film, to provide local filmmakers with tools to succeed, and to bring unique stories to the DC community. Together, we are creating a space where independent film can thrive and where new voices can be heard.
As we look forward to this season and beyond, we’re inspired by the vision we share. Thank you for standing with us in celebrating independent film.
