It is a good time for a discussion on the boundaries/intersections of art and of film. Caught up in the IT and digital revolution, for many film is a medium rather than an end in itself. For others it is a good night out or Netflix bingeing. For still others it is a canvas to work on. How filmmakers and media artists are categorized impacts: the ways in which audiences engage; the ways in which press and reviewers respond; the availability of support from institutions and organizations; and filmmaker careers.
