A dog, a big city, three women, a few days. A new style of Iranian film by an up-and-coming 31-year-old director, portraying the light and shadows of human society through a dog’s eyes. A man who has a problem with his wife takes care of a dog called PAAT in a city where having a dog is illegal. The man’s wife decides to kill him, and PAAT runs away from their house and into the big city.
Director Amir Toodehroosta notes that the film reflects the social conflict of his country, Iran. His experiences while directing short, documentary and advertising films led him to craft a new language for his first feature film: “I did not make PAAT, I pulled it out of my society and tried to give it a more sophisticated appearance.”
