Kumi Korf, born in Japan, now lives in Ithaca, N.Y. Kumi. Her art involves several disciplines: architectural design, printmaking, painting, papermaking and artists’ books. Her work can be found in the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, and the Tate Library, among others.
With almost 20 years of professional and academic experience, director Sam Hampton brings broad experience in research and documentation of the human experience. As Director of Operations for Docs In Progress®, Sam is dedicated to empowering independent documentary filmmakers and educating the public about documentary as an art form.
Director Statement : What I want the documentary to do more than anything is to capture and illustrate the concept of ki, the term for the life force, inner power or spiritual energy that is a part of everything that exists. I always feel it when I look or think about Kumi’s work.
Robby Aceto, composer, is an internationally recognized musician whose highly personalized approach and unending fascination with the electric guitar place him firmly among the new breed of “color” guitarists. He has toured and recorded with such artists as The Heads, Tom Tom Club, David Sylvian, Jansen/Barbieri/Karn, David Torn/Splattercell, Italian ambient pop diva Alice (Carla Bissi), Irish punk/blues firebrand Noella Hutton, jazz singer Lizz Wright, and Cape Breton singer/songwriter Douglas September.
